Space Chimps :: PC, PS2, Xbox 360 and Wii Game Review

The animated Space Chimps movie is full of adventure, excitement and... poop jokes. It's about Ham, Luna and Titan, three astronaut chimps who end up in deep space on an alien planet. The Space Chimps video game lets you join the wacky fun by playing as Ham and Luna through the chaos of the movie. Here's the scoop on the game with Gary's Space Chimps game review.
Deep Space Apes
In Space Chimps you run around jumping, climbing, swinging and
alien-bashing as either Ham or Luna. Each chimp has different abilities and you'll
switch chimps between levels to keep things interesting. Some levels have you
flying on the back of an alien Fluvian too - they're a hoot and show up as a separate
minigame!
Going Bananas!
The
chimps are the best part of this game. From the way they dance and play around when they're just hanging out, to the costumes you can
unlock - they're fun. The flying levels are fun too and being able to play that mode as a minigame is awesome. Grabbing a friend for a two-player high score showdown is a blast!
Flingin' Poo
This game is a bit of a
a cheapo. The levels are very basic, the
graphics are clunky, there are rough patches like bits weren't finished properly, and there really isn't a lot of video game for you to play.
Fun Monkeys?
Basic-ness aside, this game manages to be fairly fun. The monkeys are cute, the
flying minigame is cool and the
low cost keeps it reasonable for gamers who got a kick out of
the movie. Just don't expect the Space Chimps video game to be awesome.
Thumbs Up:
Ham and Luna are pretty fun.
Two player minigame.
Flying mini-games.
It's cheap - $30!
Thumbs Down:
The levels and action are ho-hum.
A bit buggy.
The graphics aren't great.
