I know that round two of the presidential debates are on TV tonight (my dad is a total politics junkie), but there is a debate going on that I am way more concerned about -- the debate about what "we" are going to be for Halloween that I'm having with my girlfriend.
Here's the deal: she want us to go as something matching like Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein or Bonny and Clyde. I, on the other hand, think that's embarrassing and lame. So now she thinks that I'm trying to "keep her a secret" even though she hangs out with me and my friends all the time. You know what I think? I think she totally knows I'm not trying to hide that she's my girlfriend. She is just trying to manipulate me into dressing as her sidekick for Halloween. And she's probably going to win. Ugh.
So what do you think? Do I have any chance of winning this fight?
PS. Here are some costume ideas for those of you who get to make these sorts of decisions by yourself.

So track has turned out to be WAY harder than I thought it was going to be. I thought I could handle it because I'm pretty active, but I feel like an old man or something. No, I feel worse. I feel like an old woman with a silly old-woman run. My track coach thinks so too and has loudly pointed it out to me more than once. Thanks for the encouragement, dude.
Still, I'm seeing improvement. I'm a little less out of breath than I was a few weeks ago and I'm not always last (anymore). I just have to think back to when I first started skateboarding and could never land a trick. This is sort of the same, only there are more people around to watch me mess up.
Are any of you getting involved in organized sports for the first time this year? It's sort of a weird thing to get used to, isn't it? Still, I think that it's worth it. By this time next year, I'm going to be a running fool .
Later,
Simon.

I've pretty much settled back in to my normal school routine already and it kinda feels like summer never even happened. Ugh. Here we go again. I'm already dreading winter, so I'm trying to come up with a preemptive strike against the old Seasonal Affective Disorder. Here's my plan:
That's about all I can think of. Do you guys have any winter survival tips? Leave a comment and let me know!
Later,
Simon
PS. I know it will be fall before it's winter but, where I live, there is very little difference between those two seasons. Oh, and spring is a lot like winter here too.
Hey everyone!
My mom informs me that it's Women's Equality Day today, which (correct me if I'm wrong) has something to do with the anniversary of women getting the right to vote. In honor of this big day, I just want to say a big "what's up" to all the ladies out there. Happy Equality Day!
Now on to the serious business of back to school:
Alright people, my work here is done. You can thank me for my helpful advice later; I have some final summer rays to catch.

I still haven't really figured out what I'm "doing" with my summer vacations and it's almost time to head back to class. I'm a living example of what the phrase "you snooze, you lose" means.
Ah, but the sweet, sweet Olympic Games have given my life renewed meaning. Instead of my dad shouting, "Are you still in front of that darn TV?" when he gets home from work, he now says "What have I missed?" and sits down beside me. Thank you Olympics!
If you, like my dad, need a little a little Olympics update, here are some great articles to check out:
Okay, I have to get back to the Olympics now. Let's talk soon about what you're wearing back to school this September. I seriously need some fashion help (do NOT tell my friends I said that!).

Oh man, the bad weather is just a distant memory and the sun is out! Why can't it always be this sunny? I guess I wouldn't appreciate it if it was always this nice. How is the weather where you live?
I'm going

OK, I know I find it
And how cool is it that the Fourth of July falls on a Friday this year? Hello long weekend! My fam is going to the lake for the weekend. What are you guys up to? Send me a comment and let me know!

Hey everyone, hope you're getting as excited about summer as I am. I'm really stoked to be finishing up the year, which makes it seriously hard to concentrate at school. I guess my brain thinks that it's already on vacation.
Emily is bugging me to go see Kung Fu Panda when it comes out on Friday, but I was worried it was going to be too girly. But I've totally changed my mind on that one after I saw this exclusive clip that Kidzworld has. Check it out below, it seems pretty funny.
So, other than checking out that movie, I'm planning on hitting heading to the lake this weekend for a little fishing with my dad. We haven't hung out for, like, ever. Now that I think of it, I really should have saved this outing for Father's Day.... but I guess it won't kill me to hang out with my day twice in one month. I guess I should figure out what to get him. What are you all getting for your dads? Comment me back and let me know!

All of a sudden its summer! I mean, I think the technical start is still a month away, but all the major symptoms of summer are already present. Sunburned office workers on the bus? Check! Kids running through lawn sprinklers? Check! Me in a good mood? Check, check, check!
I'm pretty sure there's something in sunshine that is supposed to make people happy, which is why some people get Seasonal Affective Disorder in the winter. Which begs the question: what's the opposite called? Maybe I have "Seasonal Enhancement Disorder"?
So, if you can't tell, I'm in a pretty awesome mood. Things are going pretty well with Emily and I even had dinner with her family. I was kind of scared of her dad, but he turned out to be pretty cool once he found out I was into photography. It turns out he is too, so we mostly talked about lenses and other equipment for the rest of the night. It was almost too easy.
Once again, my mom is on my case about looking for a summer job. I was hoping to go back to the skate camp I taught at last year, but they're reducing the number of classes they're offering this year (doesn't anyone skateboard anymore?!) so I don't think that' going to happen. Are any of you going to work in the summer? Comment me back and let me know!

Hey Everybody! Hope you all had an awesome Cinqo de Mayo. My dad's family is Mexican so we went and had dinner with his side of the family. It was great.
Things have been going well with Emily and I guess you could say we're dating. We haven't had the official "are we GF/BF?" talk yet, but I think it's safe to assume that we are.
The weather has finally improved and it's actually starting to seem like spring. Y'all know what that means: time to hit the skate park! I've been working on a bunch of skating pictures for my photography class and they're actually working out pretty well. My aunt is a photographer and she gave me a bunch of tips about taking action shots and I'm stoked with how they're turning out.
Can you believe that it's only, like, six or seven more weeks until summer vacation? All of a sudden things are really looking up! Drop me a comment and let me know if you're already making summer plans.

Simon
