Shonen Jump’s Bleach TCG: Bounts Set Review

15 year-old Ichigo Kurosaki never expected to be battling immortal soul-sucking villains, but his life is full of surprises! The Bounts from the Bleach anime live forever by eating souls, and now you can battle them, or play as them, with the new Bounts set for the Bleach card game! Gary shuffled his way through this 185-card set and here's his game review!

Bounts, Souls, Dolls, Dual Cards and Animals

This new set introduces a bunch of new stuff to the Bleach card game, including the deadly Bounts and a few new things. Here's the 411 on what to look for.
  • Animals - The new animal cards are cute, cuddly and ready to kick butt.
  • Bounts - Unleash these villains as characters, or build a deck around them with their Guardian cards!
  • Dolls - Power-ups for Bounts, these let them collect more souls and unleash new powers.
  • Dual Character - The character cards have two characters on them, mixing their abilities.
  • Dual Energy - New Energy cards count as two kinds of energy at once!
  • Souls - Bounts can collect cards as souls and use them to power-up or activate abilities.
  • Souls = Crunchy, Candy-Coated Food?

The new Bounts cards are awesome! Their ability to collect souls and use them to kick butt is fantastic and a great new way to play the game. The animal cards are fun too, giving you a bunch of new ways to combine with Kon and earlier sets. The Dual Energy cards are a must-have and the Dual Character cards are interesting too.

    Bounts Bummers

Only Bounts get to collect souls so everybody else is missing an awesome power. There are also a bunch of super-specific cards that only work if you have another specific cards. They're like the Bankai cards from the last set and they're frustrating!

    Immortal Villains and Cuddly Critters

This set has a good mix of new powers, big villains, goofy cards and more. It's great for new players and Bleach card game experts. Just cross your fingers that you don't end up with any of the really lame new rare cards!

    Thumbs Up:

  • Bount soul-collecting = wicked!
  • Animal cards let you unleash Kon with a ton of friends.
  • Dual Energy cards are great.
  • Dual Character cards let the heroes from the show team up.
  • Thumbs Down:

  • Super-specific cards are a pain!
  • An awesome new ability that's only for Bounts.
